2. Amount of material needed. What is the total square footage of the area being sprayed? The contractor will base his quote on this number.
3. Where will the insulation be installed? Is the attic easily accessible? Spray foam can be applied directly to the roof deck and it can be sprayed into wall cavities. It is often cheaper to install insulation during new construction or during a major remodel, when walls are open and easy to access.
4. Closed cell vs. Open cell insulation. Open-cell spray foam is cheaper than than closed cell insulation. However, closed cell spray foam has a higher R-value and it is better equipped to handle moisture. 7. Cleanup. The cost of cleanup should be included in the contractor’s quote, but make sure to get it in writing.
